Adam Sandler was honored with the People's Icon Award at the 2024 People's Choice Awards, following a touching tribute from his friend Jennifer Aniston. Hosted by actor Simu Liu, the ceremony celebrated Sandler for his legendary comedy performances and his significant impact on the film industry as an actor, writer, and producer.
To kick off his acceptance speech, he jokingly mentioned that he initially misunderstood his agent, thinking he had been crowned PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive (Patrick Dempsey actually held the title for 2023).

Adam Sandler's Hilarious Mix-Up
Due to this miscommunication Sandler explained that he had prepared a speech for the Sexiest Man Alive honor instead of the People's Icon Award. "My name is Adam Sandler, and I am the sexiest man alive, can I get a hell yeah?" he humorously declared as he read his pre-prepared speech.
He continued, expressing gratitude to the People Magazine's academy members of "hotness and sexual attractiveness", and went on to thank them for recognizing him as the man who made the entire country the horniest this year. and said that he was by far the most-talked-about person in the bedroom by couples.
Adam Sandler's Decades-Long Career
The People's Choice Awards broadcasters NBC, E!, and Peacock revealed on January 31st that Sandler would be honored with the People's Icon Award during the February 18th show.“Adam Sandler has been a fixture in the industry for decades, entertaining us since he got his start on Saturday Night Live more than 30 years ago,” said Jen Neal, executive vice president of lives and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment.
A comedian with a plethora of accolades, Sandler has garnered nine People's Choice Awards, six MTV Movie Awards, and 12 Kids' Choice Awards. Additionally, he has received nominations at esteemed events such as the Critics' Choice Awards, the Gotham Awards, the Golden Globes, the Emmys, and the Grammys. This year, he was also honored with the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Past recipients of the award, established in 2018, include Aniston, Ryan Reynolds, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, and Melissa McCarthy. At this year's ceremony, Lenny Kravitz was honored with the Music Icon Award.
