After a great deal of anticipation and curiosity among her fans, Taylor Swift revealed her next re-recording project, "1989 (Taylor's Version)," as she concluded the U.S. leg of her Eras Tour in Los Angeles on August 9.
With an air of secrecy, she shared, "There's something I've been meticulously planning for an embarrassingly extended period, and rather than divulging it in words, I believe it's time to unveil it." She then unveiled the cover art and release date for "1989 (Taylor's Version)" on a grand screen, leaving her audience in awe.
Swifties' Quest for Vault Tracks
After that, the singer of "New Romantics" hopped on social media to spill the beans. She talked about how her fifth album had a massive impact on her life and gushed about how her re-recorded version was her absolute "favorite."

Then, on September 20, Swift finally spilled the beans on the vault tracks. She made Swifties work for it by giving them some puzzles to solve on Google. Her fansite, Taylor Nation, tweeted in pure excitement, saying, "The *search* was worth the pain, because we got a long list of #1989TaylorsVersionVault Tracks!!!!! 😮💨🔓🩵."
5 From The Vault" Songs Unveiled
On her Instagram announcement, Swift spilled the beans about her upcoming album, sharing that it would include five vault songs. With excitement, she declared it as her "all-time favorite re-record," emphasizing the incredible nature of these hidden gems that were once left behind but are now ready to shine.
As a delightful surprise, Swift also hinted at an exclusive bonus track reserved for the Target vinyl edition of the album, which fans can currently pre-order.

Mystery Surrounds Collaborators
Swift has kept mum about any potential collaborators for her forthcoming album. Notably, the original album saw co-writing contributions from the likes of Jack Antonoff, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, and others. Imogen Heap also had a hand in co-writing "Clean" from the album.
In October 2022, fan speculation ran high when Imogen Heap dropped hints of a potential reunion with Swift. She teased her studio work on a "rework of a certain song for a certain artist," fueling speculation among eager fans.
1989 (Taylor's Version) is set to drop on October 27, 2023, coinciding with the exact date of the original album's release in 2014.
