5 Celebrities Facing sexual assault allegations in 2023

Over the last month, there has been a notable increase in sexual assault allegations targeting various men in the entertainment industry, including figures like Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jamie Foxx. Many of these accusations have been filed under the Adult Survivors Act, shedding light on incidents that occurred years or even decades ago.

Introduced a year ago, the Act imposed a one-year suspension on the typical statute of limitations for filing lawsuits related to alleged sexual assault. This unique legal provision enabled survivors to pursue legal action for abuse occurring at any point in their adult lives. The law expired on November 23, likely contributing to a surge in last-minute lawsuits as survivors hastened to bring forth their allegations before the expiration date.

These are five celebrities who, within the past year, have faced accusations of sexual assault.

Sean “Diddy” Combs

This week, the rapper faced a second accusation of sexual assault shortly after resolving a separate lawsuit involving allegations of rape and abuse by another woman. Court documents, as reported by People, reveal that Joi Dickerson-Neal accused Diddy of drugging and raping her in 1991 while she was a university student. Additionally, she claimed to be a victim of "revenge porn," alleging that Diddy recorded and shared a tape of the incident.

Jamie Foxx

In a recent development, it came to light that U.S. actor Jamie Foxx is facing a lawsuit from a woman, alleging "sexual assault, abuse, assault, and battery" for the second time. This follows a previous suit filed three years ago, which was subsequently dismissed. The current lawsuit asserts that Foxx groped the woman in 2015 after she requested a photo with him at a rooftop restaurant in NYC.

Axl Rose

Last week, news surfaced that Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose is facing a lawsuit for alleged sexual assault dating back to 1989. As reported by the BBC, former model Sheila Kennedy has come forward, accusing the rock star of violently attacking her in a New York hotel room that year. Rose's lawyer has firmly denied the allegations, stating in a response to CNN, "Simply put, this incident never happened," and asserting that Rose has "no recollection" of ever meeting Kennedy.

Russell Brand

In September, British actor and comedian Russell Brand faced serious accusations of rape, sexual assault, and abuse from four women, as revealed in an investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches program. The alleged assaults were reported to have occurred between 2006 and 2013. The actor, known for his role in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," promptly denied the allegations in a video posted on YouTube and X (formerly Twitter), vehemently refuting the more severe claims amidst what he described as a "litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks."

Jonah Hill

Following accusations of being "emotionally abusive" and a "misogynist narcissist" by actor Jonah Hill's ex-girlfriend Sarah Brady, Zoey 101 star Alexa Nikolas came forward with her allegations against the Hollywood star, as reported by the Independent. Nikolas tweeted about an incident at a house party at Justin Long's house when she was 16, claiming that Hill forcibly kissed her. Hill's lawyers have dismissed the story as a "complete fabrication."
