What a start South Africa is having to their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign as they sent back Sri Lanka's top 5 batters within 10 overs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The Lanka side, who won the toss and opted to bat first, hardly scored 40 runs, and it is surely not looking good for the team from Asia.

What shocked everyone was seeing Sri Lanka's skipper Wanindu Hasaranga being stumped for a two-ball duck. He came up with the order, but this experiment did not work. He danced down for a big slog but was beaten in flight and got nowhere close to the pitch of it. He swung his bat across the line, and the ball turned past the outside edge, giving Quinton de Kock a simple opportunity to displace the stumps.

Apart from Keshav Maharaj taking back-to-back wickets in the same over, Anrich Nortje has picked up three wickets. Proteas pacer Ottneil Baartman also claimed one wicket. For Sri Lanka, opener Pathum Nissanka departed for 3 of 8 while Kusal Mendis scored 19 but wasted 30 balls. Sadeera Samarawickrama departed for a duck as well, while Kamindu Mendis managed just 11 off 15 balls.
