    Aman Sehrawat adds to India's medal tally as he clinches the country's 6th medal! The Indian wrestler triumphed over Puerto Rico's Darien Toi Cruz to secure the bronze medal in the Men's 57kg Freestyle event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Friday (August 9).

    After suffering a crushing 10-0 loss to Japan's Higuchi Rei in the semi-finals, Aman made a strong comeback and dominated the bout against the Puerto Rican, winning 13-5. The Indian contingent now has 6 medals to their name, with five Bronze - three from shooting, one from Hockey and one Silver which came from Neeraj Chopra.

    The match began with both wrestlers aggressively attacking from the outset. Cruz immediately targeted Sehrawat's legs, successfully pushing him out of bounds and securing the first point. However, Sehrawat replied quickly, completing a tackle from behind to take Cruz down and gain two points, giving him a small 2-1 lead. The battle proceeded with both wrestlers demonstrating dynamic aggression, intense grappling, and frequent switches.

    As the halfway point drew near, Cruz took control by attacking Sehrawat in the lower body, knocking him down and surprising him to score two points. However, Sehrawat swiftly retaliated by putting Cruz down once more and leading 4-3 into the half before Cruz could enjoy his lead.

    Sehrawat persisted in his aggressive strategy, outmanoeuvring Cruz with deft footwork to increase his advantage to two more points. Cruz kept trying to force Sehrawat to give up and narrow the distance, but the Indian wrestler's resolve was evident. With just over a minute left, Sehrawat was able to construct a 10-5 lead by continuing to battle back after each takedown.

    With victory in sight, Sehrawat increased his efforts, pinning Cruz and easily widening his lead. After a difficult final minute for Cruz, in which he was outclassed, the battle ended with a score of 13-5 for Sehrawat, who won the bronze medal.
