Looking to fine-tune their game before the Paris Olympic Games 2024, Indian athletes Avinash Sable and Kishore Jena will be in action at the Paris Diamond League 2024, scheduled to take place at the Charlety Stadium on Sunday (July 7). While this will be the second Diamond League event for javelin thrower Kishore Jena this year after the Doha event in May, it will be Avinash Sable's first appearance in this year's Diamond League.
Avinash Sable will compete in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, which will get underway at 7:53 PM IST. Meanwhile, the men's javelin throw event, involving Kishore Jena, will start at 8:15 PM IST. Indian fans can watch the Paris Diamond League 2024 on the Sports18 3 TV channel in India, while live streaming will be available on Jio Cinema.
About Kishore Jena and Avinash Sable:
Jena is competing in the Paris Diamond League with a stellar field of javelin competitors that includes two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, three-time Diamond League champion Jakub Vadlejch of Czechia, and Commonwealth Games champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan. With his silver medal-winning throw of 87.54 meters at the Asian Games last year, Kishore Jena guaranteed a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Avinash Sable, on the other hand, started the season in second place at the Portland Track Festival in Orlando, Florida, with a time of 8:21.85. Then, last month, in Panchkula, he won the Interstate with a time of 8:31.75. In addition to competing in four Diamond League events last year, Avinash Sable broke a national record with a time of 8:11.20 to win the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. He ran 8:11.63 at the Chorzow Diamond League in Poland last year, breaking the entry mark for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The winner of each event at the finals secures a Diamond League trophy. This year, the finals will be held in Brussels, Belgium, in September.
