Paris 2024 Paralympics: Sachin Khilari wins silver in Men's Shot Put F46 final, 21st medal for India

    Indian athletes continue to deliver medals in Paris at the 2024 Paralympics. On Wednesday, Sachin Khilari added the 21st medal to India's tally by winning silver in the Men’s Shot Put F46 Final. This victory brings India's medal count to 21, surpassing its previous total of 19 medals from the Tokyo Para Games. India is 19th in the medal standings, with three gold, eight silver, and ten bronze medals.

    Sachin competed brilliantly against Greg Stewart of Canada, who defended his title from Tokyo. Stewart’s throw of 16.38 meters was 7 cm further than Sachin's 16.32, earning him the gold medal.

    Unfortunately, the other Indian competitors, Mohd Yasser and Rohit Kumar, finished in 8th and 9th place, respectively. Yasser’s throw was 14.21 meters, while Rohit managed 14.10 meters among the 10 athletes who competed in the final.

    Earlier in the day, in the shooting arena, Rudransh Khandelwal and Nihal Singh failed to qualify in the mixed 50-meter pistol SH1 event. While Nihal finished 19th, Rudransh sat in the 22nd spot. Tokyo silver medallist Bhavinaben Patel also bowed out in the quarterfinal after losing 1-3 to China's Ying Zhou.

    Currently, Paramjeet Kumar is in action in the powerlifting event. He will be eyeing a podium finish in the men's 49 kg finals. Amisha Rawat is also taking part in the Women's Shot Put F46 final event, which is going on.

    Archer Harvinder Singh will be facing Taipei's Tseng Lung-Hui in the Men’s Individual Recurve Open Round of 32.
