Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: Ayushmann Khurrana and UNICEF extend support to Indian athletes | WATCH

    As the Indian contingent is gearing up for the Summer Games, actor Ayushmann Khurrana came ahead to actively support India's Paralympic Team as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

    The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games is all set to begin and India's schedule will run from August 28 to September 9, featuring a record 84 athletes across 12 sports. Following a record haul of 19 medals at Tokyo 2020, the Indian contingent will aim for further success. 

    As the Indian contingent is gearing up for the Summer Games, versatility actor, singer, and advocate for social change, Ayushmann Khurrana came ahead to actively support India's Paralympic Team as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

    As UNICEF's National Ambassador in India, Ayushmann partnered with the organization to celebrate and champion the Indian Paralympic athletes and encouraged all to rally behind these remarkable athletes. 

    Commenting on the initiative, Ayushmann said, "The indomitable spirit of our Paralympic champions set a living example for all, not let any challenge come in the way of realising their dreams. These athletes are an inspiration for every child, particularly the specially-abled, reminding that no challenge is unsurmountable".

    He continued, "As UNICEF India National Ambassador, I support that all children, irrespective of their gender, economic and social backgrounds, have access to an inclusive and equitable environment to help them realise their full potential. Let us cheer our Paralympic champions to smash barriers and make history".

    About Paris 2024 Paralympic Games:

    The Indian contingent includes a 38-member para-athletics team and will also have athletes in para-badminton (13) and para-shooting (10). The Indian side will make its debut in para-cycling, para-judo, and para-rowing. In addition, there will also be participation in para-archery, para-canoe, para-powerlifting, para-swimming, para-table tennis, and para-taekwondo.

    Defending their titles are Avani Lekhara (para-shooting), Sumit Antil (para-athletics), Manish Narwal (para-shooting), and Krishna Nagar (para-badminton). Antil, the para-javelin world record holder, will compete in the final on September 2. Lekhara will start her events on August 28, Manish will begin on August 29, and Krishna aims for gold in men’s singles badminton, starting August 29.
