When one talks about friendships in the cricket world, one bond that everyone speaks about is between former Indian captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. In fact, fans get to see their close relationship when they meet in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for their respective franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

While Kohli has on numerous occasions spoken about his love and admiration for Dhoni, this is was the 'Thala' who talked about his friendship with the star Indian batter. When speaking at an event in Hyderabad, Dhoni stated that he and Virat always take the time to talk when they meet.

"We have been colleagues who played for India for a very long time. He (Kohli) has been amongst the best when it comes to world cricket. And the fact that I could bat a lot with him during the middle overs was a lot of fun because we used to take a lot of twos and threes in the game, so it has always been fun. It is not like we meet very often, but whenever we get a chance, we make sure that we go on the side and chat for some time, we will talk about what is going on, so that is our relationship," said Dhoni according to ANI.

As far as cricket is concerned, Virat Kohli scored a match-winning 76 runs against South Africa in what turned out to be his final T20I for India. His innings helped India to a seven-run victory in Barbados. Currently, he is part of the ODI squad playing against Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, Dhoni returned to play in the 2024 season of the IPL following a successful knee surgery. Dhoni scored 161 runs in 11 innings, averaging 53.66 with a strike rate of 220.54. His best score was 37*, and he hit a total of 14 fours and 13 sixes throughout the season.

However, CSK fell just short of playoff qualification due to a loss they faced against RCB, who ended up finishing fifth with 14 points and a total of seven wins and losses each.
