At this week's Lausanne Diamond League 2024 - Athletissima, Neeraj Chopra, the 2022 Diamond League champion in the javelin throw, is expected to continue his quest for another final. Chopra would be in good form having won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. To advance to next month's season finale in Brussels, Chopra needs to place in the top six in Lausanne.

In the Doha Diamond League 2024, held at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar, Chopra finished second with a throw of 88.36 meters. Although he missed the Paris Diamond League meeting in July, he is eager to secure a spot in the final after a strong performance with an 89.45-meter throw at the Paris Olympics.

Chopra, who is presently placed fourth, will have fierce competition from the top three finishers, Germany's Julian Weber, Anderson Peters of Grenada, and Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic. With a best throw of 85.91 meters, Weber won the Paris Diamond League competition, while Vadlejch defeated Chopra in Doha with a throw of 88.38 meters.
