IPL 2024 - Fans pray for rain-free showdown between RCB and CSK in Bengaluru on May 18
RCB scripted a remarkable turnaround and won their following five games to revive their campaign.
RCB vs CSK
After the clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) saw the home team win by 19 runs, it also saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) become the 2nd team to qualify for the Playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. However, this left only two more spots available with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) occupying the first spot. Now with this, three teams - Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) - are all vying for the two positions.

While SRH looks like a strong contender to secure their spot, fans expect an epic showdown to take place on May 18 (Saturday) between RCB and CSK at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, what could come in between this game is rain.
Rain could play spoilsport in this must-win game. The match, scheduled to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, is set to witness heavy rainfall in the coming days. According to AccuWeather, Saturday will be 'overcast with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm in the afternoon.' The precipitation chance stands at a whopping 73 per cent. The forecast could improve or worsen as there are still a few days left before the all-important game.
Fans are praying for a rain-free game to see one of the two blockbuster teams make it to the Top 4.
RCB had a poor start to the IPL 2024 season where they lost seven out of the first eight matches and sat in the 10th spot. However, the team scripted a remarkable turnaround and won their following five games to revive their campaign, now sitting in the 6th position.
As things stand, if RCB can beat CSK by 18 runs or more or chase the target in 18.1 overs, they will have a great chance of qualifying for the IPL 2024 playoffs as it will help them leapfrog CSK in terms of net run rate. But a washout will do no good to RCB as the team will be knocked out of the playoff race.
Currently holding 12 points, a win will take RCB to 14 points. However, for CSK, they will also be stuck on 14 points should they lose to RCB. If the rain washes out the contest, CSK will go through to the playoffs as they will reach 15 points.
