A claim surfaced ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Eliminator, stating that Virat Kohli-related security concerns forced the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to postpone their only practice session. The practice session was cancelled on Tuesday (May 22) at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad in preparation for their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday.

The franchise also skipped a press conference on the eve of the Eliminator due to the security threat, leaving many puzzled by the unusual development, 'Anandabazaar Patrika,' reported.
According to the Gujarat Police, they indicated that the primary reason for the cancellations was the security threat to the RCB batter. They reportedly arrested four individuals in Ahmedabad on suspicion of terrorist activity. Upon being informed by the police, RCB chose to cancel all scheduled activities, while the Rajasthan Royals continued with their commitments.
"Virat Kohli learned about the arrests after arriving in Ahmedabad. He is a national treasure, and his security is our utmost priority," Vijay Singha Jwala, a police officer, said. "RCB did not want to take a risk. They informed us that there would be no practice session. Rajasthan Royals were also informed about the development, but they had no problems going ahead with their practice."
In addition, the police tightened up security around the team hotel of the RCB. Even IPL-accredited members, according to reports, were not allowed inside the hotel. A 'green corridor' was also constructed to make it easier for the Rajasthan Royals to get to the practice area.
According to reports, players like R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Riyan Parag chose to stay at the hotel instead of attending the practice session, and captain Sanju Samson showed up at the pitch later than expected.
Strict security protocols are also expected for Wednesday's IPL 2024 Eliminator match between RCB and RR.
