Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women's cricket team has performed admirably in both the ODIs and the one-off Test match. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been playing brilliantly, helping India win the three-match series 3-0 with a career-high 343 runs, the most by any player in series history.

In the Test games, multiple records were set by the Indian women. With an incredible double century (205 off 197 balls), Shafali Verma made history in women's Test cricket history by recording the seventh-highest individual score and the second-highest for an Indian. India's record-breaking team total in women's Test history (603/6), also included Smriti Mandhana's 149. In the bowling department, India won by ten wickets, with Sneh Rana being just the second Indian after Jhulan Goswami to take a 10-wicket haul.

Now with the teams entering the T20I series, the Indian women have a better head-to-head record, having won nine out of sixteen matches. Six of the Proteas women's matches have ended in victories, with no outcome in the other two.
