IND vs SA: Abhishek Sharma fails yet again! Fans ask if his spot in T20I will be in danger?
The youngster has played eight T20I matches, scoring only 159 runs before the clash against South Africa.
Abhishek Sharma
After a stunning performance in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Abhishek Sharma earned his maiden international call-up for the series against Zimbabwe in July. While he impressed everyone with his century, things have not gone in his favour since that knock. The youngster has played eight T20I matches, scoring only 159 runs - 0, 100, 10, 14, 16, 15 and 4 - before the clash against South Africa. Adding to his woes, he was dismissed for just 7 off 8 balls against the Proteas in the 1st T20I at Kingsmead, Durban.

In the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup, he played a couple of steady innings, but nothing particularly stood out, which has fueled doubts about his spot in the Indian team. In the clash against South Africa as well, Gerald Coetzee got the better of Abhishek Sharma as Aiden Markram ran back and took an excellent catch.
Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) are questioning his position, especially with Sanju Samson in good form and with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal still part of the squad, but missing the T20I series against South Africa due to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
