The D-day arrived, accompanied by rain, dampening fans' excitement eagerly anticipating the big match between India and Pakistan in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. However, despite the weather, fans from both countries cheered as the brand ambassadors of this year's T20 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi, arrived in New York.
The two players were at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, where they posed together, eliciting high praise from fans for the two all-rounders. From discussing their stats to admiring their records, netizens flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) with everything about these cricket legends.
Adding to the excitement, alongside Yuvraj Singh was the 'God of Cricket' Sachin Tendulkar, who also attended the event, much to the delight of fans. They shared pictures of their greet and meet and spent time with Indian coach Rahul Dravid.
As for the toss, Pakistan won and opted to field in this must-win game for both teams. The Men in Green rested Azam Khan and brought in Imad Wasim, while Team India remained unchanged. However, whether the game will be played remains uncertain as rain looms around the corner and could potentially play spoilsport.

Rohit Sharma at the toss said, "Would've bowled first too. We need to assess how conditions play out and develop an idea of a good score. Those games have helped us assess conditions here. We've spoken about what we need to do as a batting unit to get a good score and then we've got the bowling unit to defend. Every game is important in a World Cup, you can't just show up. Anything can happen. We're sticking to the same XI".
