While not consistently, the Indian bowlers are doing everything they can to take the wickets of the New Zealand batters after they faltered badly and were all out for 46 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, cruising towards a century, Devon Conway's momentum was halted by Indian spinner R Ashwin, who clean-bowled him.

Conway and Tom Latham attacked the Indian spinners with sweeps, prompting the Men in Blue to make a conscious effort to push the ball further to make the sweep more difficult. The result was Kuldeep Yadav sending back Latham (15 off 49) and now Conway departing in the 39.1 over. Although the Kiwi batter did not often use the sweep, this time he made a deliberate attempt to be aggressive against Ashwin.

Knowing Conway would likely try to play aggressively and go for the reverse sweep, Ashwin began his spell with a very full ball from round the wicket. Conway played the premeditated shot, got himself into a tangle, and saw the bails knocked off. For the third time now, Conway was dismissed in the 90s, walking back for 91 runs off 105 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes).

As of now, after 44 overs, New Zealand leads by 121 runs, having posted 167 runs and lost 3 wickets. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell are at the crease, and India will be hoping to take more wickets before the end of Day 2.

Earlier, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant limped off the field after the ball hit his knee. The physio came out to tend to him while Pant lay on the ground, grimacing in pain. He later walked off, and Dhruv Jurel came in running to take his place.
