A good partnership between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli comes to an end as the former gets bowled for 47 off 35, just after his teammate reached a half-century on Day 4 of the 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Fans were eager to see both batters reach their respective 50s, but Kohli's dismissal dampened the mood.

Kohli went down on his knees to go for the big swipe across the line but he missed it completely. The ball went on to crash into the middle stumps and Shakib Al Hasan was delighted and celebrated his third wicket.

Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal (72 off 51) and Rohit Sharma (23 off 11) set the record for the fastest 50 by a team in Test cricket. Later, Kohli and Rahul helped India become the fastest team to reach 150 runs in Tests, surpassing the 21.1 overs set by India against the West Indies in Port of Spain in 2023 (where ball-by-ball data is available).

Apart from Rishabh Pant (9 off 11), the rest of the Indian batters contributed, and after 32 overs, India has taken a 36-run lead, posting 269 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

After winning seven of 10 matches, India is placed first in the World Test Championship (WTC) with a victory percentage of 71.67%. If they defeat Bangladesh 2-0, they would need three more wins from five games to advance to a third consecutive final.

However, since a draw in the Kanpur Test is probably going to happen, the teams will split the points, which will complicate things for India. They now need to win their next home series against New Zealand and defeat Australia in at least two games of the Border-Gavaskar series to secure a spot in the title game. India is playing intending to win in Kanpur.
