The toss for the Super 8s clash between India and Bangladesh in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 took place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to field first, making one change to his side. When it was India captain Rohit Sharma's turn to speak, he stated they preferred to bat first and retained the same winning combination.
But many people found it upsetting to hear that India had not made any chance to their squad. Fans on social media, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter), questioned the exclusion of Sanju Samson in favour of the underwhelming Shivam Dube, who hasn't even been given the chance to bowl.
Regarding the match, Bangladesh's Taskin is not playing, and Najmul commented, "Looks like a good wicket. I reckon 150-160 will be a good score." The 'Hitman,' speaking at the toss, remarked, "The pitch looks good, but it depends on how much the sun beats down and slows it down. It's important to assess the conditions quickly. We're fielding the same team. It's crucial to focus on the present and not worry about other things."
India holds a commanding 12-1 head-to-head record against Bangladesh in World Cups, although their matches are fiercely competitive due to their intense rivalry.
