IND vs BAN: Despite 2.5 days of rain, India snatches victory from the jaws of a draw vs Bangladesh

After losing almost 2 and a half days to rain, everyone expected the game to end in a draw. But the Indian team surprised everyone by playing in T20 fashion when the game finally resumed on Day 4 and continued their dominance on Day 5 to secure a 2-0 series victory, solidifying their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table.

On Day 1, only 35 overs were possible after a delayed start due to a wet outfield. Once play began, Bangladesh scored 107/3 with Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) and Mominul Haque (40*) at the crease, but the game was halted due to bad light, followed shortly by rain. Days 2 and 3 were abandoned due to persistent rain. This is when most believed that a draw was the only possible outcome.

However, the Men in Blue had other plans, dismissing the visitors for 233 runs. Mominul Haque stood firm until the end, remaining not out on 107 off 194 balls while watching his teammates fall. Jasprit Bumrah led the attack with 3 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, R Ashwin, and Akash Deep each took two wickets, and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one.

When India came to bat, their intent to dominate was clear. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came out aggressively, bringing up the team's 50 in just 3 overs. Jaiswal and Shubman Gill then added another 50+ stand before Virat Kohli and KL Rahul contributed 87 runs in quick succession, taking India past Bangladesh's total. India recorded the fastest 50, 100, 150, and 200 runs in Test history. Soon after, the captain declared with 45 minutes left in the day and a 52-run lead.

R Ashwin struck early in Bangladesh's second innings, picking up two quick wickets and ending Day 4 on a high, with 437 runs scored in total and 18 wickets taken in 85 overs. 

Day 5 saw Bangladesh bowled out again for 146 runs, with Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja each taking three wickets and Akash Deep taking one. In India's second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his attacking momentum, even reaching a half-century, though he couldn't finish the game. Virat Kohli (29 off 37) and Rishabh Pant, however, finished the match, helping India win by 7 wickets.
