After finally dismissing India on Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh, the visitors did not anticipate their batting to start so poorly. They lost three wickets before the lunch break, leaving them struggling at 26 for 3, with all wickets being clean bowled. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Jasprit Bumrah drew first blood, dismissing Shadman Islam for 2 off 6.

Later, in the 8th over, Akash Deep struck twice, quickly removing Zakir Hasan (3 off 22) and Mominul Haque (0 off 1). On the hat-trick ball, Team India set up an aggressive field with four slips, a gully, a deep short-leg, and a leg gully, but the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim managed to fend the ball away towards the gully.
