What is happening? As Ravi Shastri exclaimed in commentary, "It's a Maniac Monday!" After bowling Bangladesh out for 233 runs on Day 4 of the 2nd Test at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, India’s openers, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, started with a bang and even went on to record the fastest 50 in Test cricket.

This is the first instance of a team scoring 50 runs inside the first three overs in a Test (where ball-by-ball data is available). Previously, England had scored 50 runs in 26 balls, as mentioned by the commentators. Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) began sharing memes and expressing their amazement at the record, watching the team play in a T20 style during a Test match.

As of now, after 5 overs, India has posted 58 runs and now trails by 175 runs. The Men in Blue lost their captain, Rohit Sharma, for 23 runs off 11 balls after being bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are at the crease and fans will be hoping these two continue to play with the same aggressive intent.

India tops the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with seven wins in 10 matches and a 71.67% win rate. A 2-0 sweep against Bangladesh would have boosted their chances of reaching a third consecutive final, leaving them needing three more wins from five matches.

However, with the Kanpur Test likely to end in a draw, the teams will split the points, making India's path tougher. They now need to win at least two matches in the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia and sweep New Zealand in their upcoming home series to secure a spot in the final. With the way India is playing, they are looking to get a win in Kanpur.
