    The Tech Mahindra Global Chess League 2024, which features elite players including Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Viswanathan Anand, Hou Yifan, and Vaishali Rameshbabu, is scheduled to have its second season in London from October 3–11. The competition, which is being held in association with the International Chess Federation (FIDE), will be broadcast live on Chess.com. 

    JioCinema will offer more viewing choices on its website and app. The opening ceremony will take place on October 2, with the first round starting on October 3 at 13:15 London time (8:15 AM ET / 14:15 CEST / 5:45 PM IST).

    Teams and Format: The six participating teams are:

    American Gambits: Owned by Prachura PP, Venkat K. Narayana, and cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin

    Alpine SG Pipers: Owned by APL Apollo's SG Sports

    Ganges Grandmasters: Owned by Insurekot Sports

    upGrad Mumba Masters: Owned by Ronnie Screwvala’s Unilazer Ventures

    PBG Alaskan Knights: Owned by Punit Balan Group

    Triveni Continental Kings: Owned by Triveni Sports Private Limited

    Each team must include at least two women and one player born in 2003 or later. Teams will follow a fixed board order, consisting of:

    Young player (21 years or younger)

    The competition begins with a double round-robin format, where each team plays all others twice, once with white and once with black pieces. The time control for each game is 20 minutes with no increment.

    Points System:

    Win with black: 4 game points

    Win with white: 3 game points

    Draw: 1 game point

    Loss: 0 points

    In terms of match points:

    Team victory: 3 match points

    Tie: 1 match point

    Loss: 0 match points

    The two teams with the most match points advance to the final, which will be played over two matches. In the event of a tie, blitz playoffs will decide the winner.
