The highly anticipated Duleep Trophy kicked off on September 5, 2024, marking the start of India's domestic cricket season for 2024-2025. This edition is particularly significant as it will serve as a vital preparation ground for Indian cricketers aiming to secure a place in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh later this month.

The competition will showcase several top Indian players, all eager to earn their spots in the Test squad. However, key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin have been granted exemptions to avoid injury risks before the Bangladesh series.

About The Duleep Trophy 2024:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has overhauled the Duleep Trophy format and shifted from the traditional zonal structure to a new four-team setup. Teams A, B, C, and D will compete in a round-robin format, with the team that accumulates the most points by the end of the tournament will be declared the winner.
The matches will be held at three venues: the Rural Development Trust Stadium and ACA ADCA Ground in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The captains for this season are Shubman Gill (Team A), Abhimanyu Easwaran (Team B), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Team C), and Shreyas Iyer (Team D).
Players missing:
Aside from the top Indian cricket stars, there have been some recent updates regarding the squad. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been released from Team B, and his replacement has yet to be announced. Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will miss the tournament due to illness, with Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav stepping in as their replacements.
Ishan Kishan's participation is also uncertain, with the exact reason for his potential withdrawal still unclear. However, Cricbuzz suggests that he may be dealing with an injury. Sanju Samson, who was initially left out of all four teams, is likely to be included as Kishan's replacement.
