BTS V's craze hits South Korean Olympians: Judo athlete Huh Mi Mi and Table Tennis player Shin Yu Bin share their admiration for Kim Taehyung

    Kim Taehyung's charisma is certainly one of the reasons many fans became interested in BTS and among them are South Korean Olympians who have publicly expressed their admiration for V.

    It is not surprising to know about the global craze surrounding the group Bangtan Sonyeondan aka BTS. Each of the seven members — Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jung-kook — have their own fan base. Among them, one member with an especially passionate following is V, also known as Kim Taehyung. His charisma is certainly one of the reasons many fans became interested in BTS and then delved deeper into the fandom called ARMY. Among these admirers are South Korean Olympians who have publicly expressed their admiration for V. 

    Huh Mi Mi, a 22-year-old Judo athlete who won a silver medal in the women's 57kg event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite the controversies surrounding it, is a huge fan of Taehyung. With a shy smile, post her victory, she said, "I've always wanted to meet V, but I wonder if I can meet him as a silver medalist instead of a gold medalist." She added that BTS' music is her source of energy; whenever she feels low, listening to their songs helps her feel better.

    Table Tennis player Shin Yu Bin, who defeated Japan to reach the semi-finals, also showed her appreciation for V. KBS News headlined with: "BTS V, did I do well? Shin Yu Bin defeats Japan and advances to the semi-finals."

    Earlier, V posted a heartfelt message of encouragement for Shin Yu Bin on Instagram, captioning it, "Yu Bin, good luck at table tennis! Fighting South Korea!" Shin Yu Bin, a dedicated ARMY and big BTS fan expressed her gratitude on Instagram, saying, "I'll keep going! Thank you."

    Taehyung has been making significant strides in his solo career. Along with fellow BTS members Jimin and Jungkook, he set a new milestone in K-pop history by surpassing 100 million Spotify streams in their debut week. His debut studio album, 'LAYOVER', released on September 8, 2023, is a captivating mix of R&B, pop, and jazz, showcasing his soulful voice and artistic growth. The album consists of six tracks, including a special piano version of 'Slow Dancing'.

    Currently, Taehyung is fulfilling his mandatory South Korean military duties, which he began on December 11, 2023. He is serving in the 2nd Division Military Police Corps and made headlines when he was spotted in his all-black uniform, reserved for elite soldiers in the anti-terrorism unit Special Duty Team (SDT).
