It is no secret that when one of the biggest groups in the world, BTS, completes their South Korean military service, they will dominate all music charts. With one member already out—Kim Seokjin—he is already making waves. Just as the group's maknae, Jeon Jungkook, performed at the Qatar FIFA World Cup, now it's time for the eldest member of the group to shine on the big occasion. He is set to become the torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

The Olympics are scheduled to commence on July 27, and Jin is gearing up to depart for France shortly. He will join more than 11,000 torchbearers, which include Holocaust survivors, astronauts, prominent athletes, relatives of victims of the Nice terror attack, and various others. The torch's journey will traverse 400 locations, spanning approximately 12,000 kilometres.

The group's fans called ARMY were elated and soon flooded social media with messages saying how proud they were of the singer trending the lines 'TORCHBEARER JIN', 'PRIDE OF KOREA JIN' and 'JIN AT PARIS OLYMPICS'.

Yet, the exact date and location of his departure remain undisclosed. Responding to inquiries, Jin's agency HYBE informed Sports Chosun that all details regarding the Olympics must undergo careful consultation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) before they are disclosed. The representative said, "We will organize and announce our position on the torch relay soon."

Jin has been getting ready for several events since his release from the hospital last month. In addition to confirming his Olympic participation, he recently revealed that new music is now being worked on and that he will be appearing on the MBC entertainment program "It's A Good Thing To Rest Well" (literal translation).

    Where are the other members?

All seven members of BTS had been enlisted in the South Korean military with only Jin having been discharged. The others - Kim Namjoon, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jung-kook - are currently undergoing mandatory service with hopes of reuniting as a group in 2025.

The members, despite being in the military service, have continued to release music and it is said they will be back together as a group in 2025.
