Before their clash against India, the Australian women's team will be taking on the Pakistan women's team in Match 14 of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, October 11.

The Aussie women are currently dominating Group A, sitting at the top of the table with two wins from two matches. The defending champions kicked off their campaign with a 6-wicket victory over the 2024 Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka and followed it up with a 60-run win against New Zealand, solidifying their strong position.

In contrast, the Pakistan women's team shifted to the 3rd spot after India won against Sri Lanka. The Women in Green have one win and one loss in the tournament as they began their campaign with a 31-run win over Sri Lanka but faced a setback in their last match when the Indian side defeated them by six wickets.

Will this match result affect Team India's standing in Group A?

India moved to second place in Group A with four points from three matches after defeating Sri Lanka by 82 runs. New Zealand is currently in third place with two points from two matches, but they have a better Net Run Rate (NRR) than India. Australia leads the group with four points from two games.

    If India beats Australia

India faces Australia on Sunday in its final group-stage match, and a win against the defending champions will keep them in contention to reach the Top 4. However, if New Zealand wins its remaining two matches, the group could see a three-way tie among India, Australia, and New Zealand at six points. The two teams with the best NRR will advance.

    If India loses to Australia

If the Women in Blue lose to the Aussies, they will need both New Zealand and Pakistan to lose at least one of their remaining two fixtures. In this scenario, the three teams could be tied on four points. Even then, NRR will determine which team joins Australia in the semifinals.

India will also be hoping for Sri Lanka to beat New Zealand and for Pakistan to lose to Australia. Additionally, they will pray that the winner of the Pakistan-New Zealand match does not surpass India in NRR.
