USA and Pakistan
Surely, the fans of the Pakistan cricket team must have prayed to the rain gods to allow the match between the USA and Ireland in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 to take place. However, it seems their prayers went unanswered as rain played spoilsport at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, leading to the game being called off without even the toss taking place.
With no game played, and the USA having secured 2 wins while Pakistan managed just one, the United States of America has now created history as they progressed to the Super 8s of the marquee tournament. Pakistan, having faced losses against the US and India, but with a win against Canada, could not secure their spot and have been eliminated after the group stage.

USA qualifying for Super 8:
This has become the seventh instance of an associate team progressing from the group stage to the Super stage in T20 World Cups after Ireland (2009), Netherlands (2014), Afghanistan (2016), Namibia (2021), Scotland (2021) and the Netherlands (2022).
Teams in Group A:
- Team India secured six points after victories against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA. Their final league game against Canada is scheduled for Saturday.
- As for the USA, with their final game abandoned due to rain, they have two wins against Canada and Pakistan and one loss against India.
- Pakistan having defeated Canada, needed Ireland to beat the USA and also had to ensure their victory against the former in their final league game on Sunday. However, rain played spoilsport, leading to their elimination.
- Canada, needing to win their matches against the USA and India while relying on both the United States and Pakistan losing their final games with a Net Run Rate (NRR) inferior to theirs to cut, now sees those hopes washed away.
- Ireland's campaign did not start well as they lost to India and Canada, and now faced a washed-out game against the USA. If they had won both of their remaining matches by significant margins to surpass their NRR, they could have qualified for the Super 8s.
