Paris Paralympics 2024, Day 1: Team India schedule on August 29 - Events, timings, athletes and all you need to know

The 2024 Paralympics in Paris officially begins with the opening ceremony on Wednesday, August 28, marking the start of 11 days of competition that will conclude on September 8. India's flag-bearers at the opening ceremony will be javelin thrower Sumit Antil and shot putter Bhagyashri Jadhav. The Paris Paralympics 2024 will be broadcast live on Sports18, with live streaming available on JioCinema in India.

India is sending a record 84 athletes across 12 sports to the Summer Games. Following their historic haul of 19 medals at Tokyo 2020, the Indian contingent is eager to achieve even greater success. The team includes 38 para-athletes, 13 para-badminton players, and 10 para-shooters. India will also make its debut in para-cycling, para-judo, and para-rowing. In addition, Indian athletes will compete in para archery, para canoe, para powerlifting, para-swimming, para table tennis, and para taekwondo.

What is the schedule for the 2024 Paralympics?

Events at the Paris Paralympics will begin around 11 AM IST and continue past midnight on competition days. Most major medal events will occur in the evening or late at night in India, except shooting, which is scheduled mainly for the early evening.
