After being dubbed "panoti" by many due to the fate of athletes featured in the "Lehra Do" ad by Reliance Foundation, fans were apprehensive about the Indian hockey team's bronze medal game, especially with goalkeeper PR Sreejesh also part of the ad. However, the Indian team broke the curse by defeating Spain 2-1, securing a podium finish and giving PR Sreejesh a fitting farewell to his iconic career.
Athletes Featured in the "Lehra Do" Ad Who Did Not Win Medals:
PV Sindhu: Lost 21-19, 21-14 to China's He Bing Jiao in the Round of 16.
Jyothi Yarraji: Failed to make the semifinals of the women's 100m hurdles after finishing fourth in her repechage heat.
Avinash Sable: Finished eleventh in the men's 3000m steeplechase final.
Mirabai Chanu: Finished fourth in the women's 49kg weightlifting event.
Kishore Jena: Missed out on a final spot with a best throw of 80.73m.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty: Lost in the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles 21-13, 14-21, 16-21 against Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
Nishant Dev: Lost in the quarter-final boxing clash against Mexico's Marco Verde Alvarez in the 71kg category.
Sharath Kamal: Lost the contest 3-1 (11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 5-11) against Fan Zhendong.

In the hockey match, the victory at Stade Yves-du-Manoir saw India secure back-to-back medals, having also won bronze in Tokyo three years ago. This achievement marks the first time in 52 years that India has won consecutive Olympic hockey medals, with the last occurrence in 1968 and 1972.

Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, playing his final match for India, made several extraordinary saves to thwart Spanish captain Marc Miralles from penalty corners.
PR Sreejesh shared his thoughts on whether there could have been a better farewell for him in international hockey, "I think this is a good way to end, with an Olympic medal and not empty-handed. I would like to thank the team, the coaching staff, Hockey India and IOA. They did a great job and supported me well".
