DC had earlier won the toss and chosen to bowl. During the Powerplay, RCB lost both their captain, Faf du Plessis (6 off 7) and Virat Kohli (27 off 13). However, thanks to DC's poor fielding, Will Jacks (41 off 29) and Rajat Patidar (52 off 32) put up a vital combination.
But the Delhi team quickly turned the tide, getting rid of the set batters in quick succession. Cameron Green attempted to construct an innings with Mahipal Lomror (13 off 8), but the latter was unable to hang around for very long. Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh fell for ducks, while towards the end Karn Sharma (6 off 4) and Siraj were run out.
