About the Indian squad:
With Rahul Dravid's role as the head coach coming to an end along with his support staff, VVS Laxman will be travelling with the squad. However, VVS Laxman is not named as the head coach and an announcement for the same is expected soon.
As for the squad, many new faces will be making their way into the team on the back of some good performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Shubman Gill, who was not part of the T20 World Cup will be leading the young squad.
Explosive batters Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma are in while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal may open the innings in the top order. As for the keepers, Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel will be the two options.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was also included in the squad, however, after he sustained an injury, he was removed and Shivam Dube was named as his replacement.
New update: Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana added to India’s squad for the first two T20Is as replacements for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
