In the first series after winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, India's new and young side travelled to Zimbabwe to play a five-match T20I series. In the first game at the Harare Sports Club, the Men in Blue nearly bowled out the host team, restricting them to 115 runs. Wicketkeeper Clive Madande kept the innings alive till the end, preventing an all-out.
The main wicket-takers were spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar, who took a total of six wickets together, while the pacers took the remaining ones. Bishnoi played a crucial role, dismissing 4 batsmen and conceding just 13 runs, while Sundar took two wickets, giving away only 11 runs. Mukesh Kumar drew first blood and that was his only wicket while Avesh Khan also picked up one.

For Zimbabwe, Wessly Madhevere (21 off 22) managed to get some runs on the board at the start after Innocent Kaia was bowled for a duck. Brian Bennett (23 off 15), captain Sikandar Raza (17 off 19), and Dion Myers (23 off 22) played crucial cameos, but the wickets kept falling.
Johnathan Campbell, Wellington Masakadza, and Blessing Muzarabani all departed for ducks, while Luke Jongwe was sent back for just a run. Madande (29 off 25) stayed till the end, hitting some good shots and boundaries, but he did not get much support from the other end.
