Virat Kohli
In the 1st ODI clash between India and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, fans were eagerly anticipating the return of skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. When Sri Lanka chose to bat first, it was expected that the two would excel in the field. They certainly did not disappoint, restricting the host nation to 230 runs while losing 8 wickets in their 50 overs.

However, what truly captured everyone’s attention was Kohli’s stunning one-handed diving catch. Although it did not result in a wicket, it showcased the batter’s exceptional reflexes. This moment occurred when Dunith Wellalage had just arrived at the crease after the dismissal of Pathum Nissanka (56 off 75). Wellalage immediately attempted a sweep shot against a fullish off-break delivery.
The ball spun over the top edge, striking him high around the ribcage. UltraEdge confirmed there was no contact with the bat, and ball-tracking showed the ball would have missed the stumps. Had there been a faint edge, Wellalage would have been out, as the second slip fielder, Kohli, took an impressive diving catch.
Videos of Kohli’s remarkable catch have quickly gone viral on social media, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter).
