After being promoted to No. 3 following Sanju Samson's departure for a duck, he formed a terrific partnership with Abhishek Sharma during the Powerplay in the 3rd T20I at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Tilak Varma has now gone on to smash his glorious maiden 100 against South Africa in the 3rd T20I of the 4-match series.

While he kept losing partners quickly after the partnership with Abhishek Sharma was broken, Tilak Varma ensured the momentum was maintained. The youngster reached his century in just 51 balls, having smashed 6 maximums and 8 boundaries. He became the youngest Indian, at 22 years and 5 days, to score a T20I century against a top-10 team.

As of writing this article, the Men in Blue had scored 219 runs in 20 overs, losing 6 wickets. Debutant Ramandeep Singh made sure to get going from ball one, smashing it for a six and scored 15 off 6 balls before departing.
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma also played a stunning knock, scoring a 24-ball 50 that included 5 maximums and 3 fours. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for just 1 off 4 balls, while Hardik Pandya made 18 off 16 balls. Rinku Singh struggled, managing just 8 off 13 balls.
