Not the 1st innings result Indian cricket fans expected, as the side was all out for 46 runs in the first Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. While the Kiwis went with 3 pacers, the Men in Blue opted for 3 spinners. In fact, India's decision to bat first surprised many, and the total has only raised further doubts about that choice.

Interestingly, fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were seen mocking and trolling head coach Gautam Gambhir, with many commenting that this won't be the first time he has silenced the Chinnaswamy crowd. During the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was seen shushing the crowd of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

In the match, BlackCaps batters Devon Conway and Tom Latham got off to a fantastic start, scoring 23 runs in just 6 overs and hitting several boundaries—something the Indian batters struggled to achieve.

For India, aside from Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 off 63) and Rishabh Pant (20 off 49), the rest of the lineup faltered: Rohit Sharma (2 off 16), Virat Kohli (0 off 9), Sarfaraz Khan (0 off 3), KL Rahul (0 off 6), Ravindra Jadeja (0 off 6), and Ravichandran Ashwin (0 off 1) all fell in quick succession.

The total of 46 runs is now the lowest score in Asia, surpassing the previous record of 53 runs set by West Indies against Pakistan in Faisalabad in 1986, and 53 runs by Pakistan against Australia in Sharjah in 2002.  

On the New Zealand side, Matt Henry took 5 wickets, William O'Rourke claimed 4, and Tim Southee added 1. Matt Henry's figures of 5/15 represent the most economical five-wicket haul by a New Zealand bowler in Test cricket history.
