After thrashing Bangladesh in the 2-match Test series, the Indian men's cricket team went on to start their T20I series with a bang as well. Opting to field first, Team India's bowlers delivered a stellar performance, with Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy each taking three wickets. Hardik Pandya, debutant Mayank Yadav, and Washington Sundar contributed with one wicket each.

For the Bangladeshi batters, only Najmul Hossain Shanto (27 off 25) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35* off 32) showed any resistance, but overall, their performance was lacklustre.

In the chase, Sanju Samson (29 off 19) and Abhishek Sharma (16 off 7) started strong, but Sharma was run out due to a misjudgment. Suryakumar Yadav (29 off 14) came to the crease and immediately attacked, while Samson played some beautiful strokes from the other end. The Indian skipper departed after a quick cameo, but by then, 71 runs had already come off the powerplay. Hardik Pandya (39* off 16) and debutant Nitish Reddy (16* off 15) then led India to a convincing victory.
With this impressive victory, India has secured a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The two teams will next meet on October 9, 2024, Wednesday, at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, where fans can expect another thrilling encounter. The series will culminate with the third and final match, scheduled to take place on October 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
