Even though the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal is out of theatres and is now being streamed on OTT platform Prime Video, there is never a dull moment whenever anyone talks about the film. By now, almost everything has been said and written about the film. Be it the film director’s vision to create the lead character into a menacing one, to the film’s music … almost everything under the sun. Just as when, one felt that, they have seen it all, there came a post from the celebrity hair stylist Aalim Hakim who took to social media and dropped a few ‘stunningly shocking’ and unseen pics of Ranbir Kapoor. Aalim also explained the process of Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation.
Sharing a bunch of unseen pics of Ranbir Kapoor from the film (it was a part of the look test), Alim wrote, ‘These pics I clicked in the morning after finishing the haircut for the character of Aziz/Ranbir Kapoor on 9th August 2023 on the day of shoot of Aziz intro scene. Me and Sandeep sir wanted Aziz to have a really sharp haircut on the sides. Director Sandeep sir wanted to see some references and wanted to see in actual before the shoot’. He then revealed that there was a Kunal Rawal show which was happening in Delhi at that time, where Kunal gave Ranbir a free hand to do whatever he wanted to do.
In another post, Aalim shared the process behind creating Ranbir Kapoor’s young/ teenage look in the film. He wrote, ‘Lot of homework was done to make the teenage Ranvijay character look fresh and yet to have that aggression of a character he is playing in the movie. I collected a lot of pictures of Ranbir’s when he was 16-17 years old… We wanted to create the same fullness, texture and health in the hair that a teenage boy usually possess’.
He added that they had done 2-3 look tests before finalising the teenage Rannvijay’s hairstyle. The pic, which he had shared on social media was that of when he was seen wearing a red jacket school uniform in the movie and goes to the class with a gun to scare his sister’s classmate. For almost everything, Aalim Hakim credited the film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who had personally looked into every detail of styling to make Rannvijay’s character look bang on!
As for the film Animal, besides Ranbir Kapoor, it starred Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri in important roles. The film, which was released on December 1 last year (2023), went on to create unprecedented records at the box office.
