Is Rani Mukerji in talks with filmmaker Shonali Bose for a family drama? Here’s what we know

Be it her NRI student act in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or the no-nonsense cop Inspector Shivani in Mardani series, Rani Mukerji has always pushed the envelope and has been part of roles which challenges her as an actor! The latest update on the actress is that she is now in talks with filmmaker Shonali Bose for a film that’s based on a family drama.

As per a source-based news in Pinkvilla, it has been reported that Rani Mukerji is in the stage of advance talks with filmmaker Shonali Bose. The same report stated that, since the last two years, Rani Mukerji had been reading several scripts for his next project and that the premise of Shonali Bose’s film is something that really touched and appealed to Rani Mukerji. The said film, which is an untitled one so far, is an ‘endearing family drama’, the report stated.

It also mentioned that, the makers of the said film (whose pre-production is currently underway), were planning to take the film on floors from September 2024. As for the film’s leading man, it has been reported that Junglee Pictures are planning to cast a ‘big A-list actor’ to play the leading man in the film and the one who will be paired opposite Rani Mukerji.

Besides the fact that the film will star Rani Mukerji and the yet-to-be-decided A list actor as the leading man, it will also see the presence of a big ensemble cast, whose casting is presently underway. The film’s makers, the said report stated, have plans to shoot the film from September until the end of 2024 and bring it to the big screen in 2025.

As for Rani Mukerji, after the time she wraps up the shooting of the yet to be titled film with Shonali Bose, she is expected to start with the most awaited Mardaani 3 for Yash Raj Films (YRF). As per the said reports, the film Mardaani 3 is presently in its scripting stages.
