Actor Manoj Bajpayee needs an absolute introduction. Terms like Best actor, stellar performer, powerhouse talent etc… seems like a mere term before the ocean of talent that this man is made up of in totality! He is what one would call as one of the unshakable pillars of Bollywood. The repertoire of his work is totally unparalleled.
The last couple of days have seen almost everyone talking (read ‘raving’) about the recently launched trailer of Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film Bhaiyaa Ji, a film that promises to bring back the actor in the form the people want to see him- Desi superstar, the very term which was used to describe him in the trailer.
But, did you know that, Manoj Bajpayee’s life has not always been a bed of roses. There have been days when he had to face and encounter the prick of thorns as well. The actor Manoj Bajpayee, in a recent podcast conversation with Siddharth Kannan said that, there have been times in his life when he had to sign films only because he was running out of money. He also spoke about the films which, despite receiving National Awards, did not work at the box office.
Speaking about National awards, he cited the example of the film Pinjar, which starred him along with starred a bunch of actors like Urmila Matondkar, Sanjay Suri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Isha Koppikar, Farida Jalal, Sandali Sinha, Priyanshu Chatterjee and many others.
After having cited the example of Pinjar, he said that, even though the film did not work at the box office, the film gave him Veer Zaara. Recalling how he bagged the role in Veer Zaara, he said that, after seeing the film Pinjar, the (late) yash Chopra said that he had seen the film and was mesmerised and that he was adamant on getting him to do that role in Veer Zaara.
As for Bhaiyaa ji, besides Manoj Bajpayee the film stars Vipin Sharma and Jatin Goswami in important roles. While the film has been directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the film has been scheduled to be released on 24 May 2024.
