Abhay Deol - 'I don't define my sexuality and this might sound controversial, but…'

Starting with his debut film Socha Na Tha, Abhay Deol has always been someone who has never shied from experimenting with the kind of roles that he has played on screen. At the same time, he has also ensured that he does not get stuck into any kind of stereotypes.

Even though he has always maintained a low-key profile in the media as well as social media, a recent interview of his has created a stir almost everywhere. We are indeed referring to the Dirty Magazine.

In the said interview, when Abhay Deol was asked as to how did he perceive sexuality, to which, he replied, “As a spectrum”. He said that, he refused the western way of identifying sexuality because it was so black and white and that the Eastern approach was so different, it recognises the whole of them.

He added that he did not define his sexuality and that it might sound controversial. But, for him, it was not something that he thought could be defined. When asked to elaborate it further, the ‘Socha Na Tha’ actor said that he thought it was more for the other person's comfort and that why should he define himself in Western terms.

He added, (read ‘revealed’) that he had embraced all experiences in his life and that he continued to do so. He also added that, he did not know how to label that because he did not want to label that. He also added that all of us (human beings) have a masculine and feminine within them and that’s why, in his opinion, all of them were they/them.

On the professional front, Abhay Deol will now be seen in the most awaited film Bun Tikki, which will also star the veteran actors Zeenat Aman and Shabana Azmi. The film is being produced by the ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra (his debut production) and is being directed by Faraz Arif Ansari.
