9 years of Deepika Padukone's Piku
In a world of Bollywood, there are films which are of varied genres. While some are loaded with vfx, some are romantic, while others are bro-mantic! Very rarely, one gets to see a film that is extremely feel-good. The Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone starrer Piku, which had released in the year 2015 was one such film, which was not just a feel good one, but also home to one of the simplest scripts of the silver screen.
Today, as the film clocks 9 years, Deepika Padukone took to social media and shared an extremely memorable BTS (behind The Scenes) photograph which was clicked in between the shooting of the film. The photograph had someone (one of the film unit’s members) offering a plateful of grapes. As for Amitabh Bachchan, he is seen talking to the unit member. As for Deepika Padukone, she is seen biting her finger as she looks at the legendary Amitabh Bachchan with a sparkle in her eyes.
After posting the BTS photograph, Deepika Padukone captioned the same saying, ‘He loves telling everyone how much I eat! @amitabhbachchan #Piku #Bashkor #Rana #ShoojitSirkar @irrfan Oh how much we miss you…’ What is really remarkable is that, Deepika Padukone did make it a point to write about how much the legendary actor Irrfan Khan is being missed by everyone.
For the unversed, the film ‘Piku’ mirrored the life of Piku Banerjee (Deepika Padukone in top form), who happens to be an architect residing in Chittaranjan Park, Delhi with her 70-year-old father Bhashkor Banerjee (Amitabh Bachchan). Bhashkor Banerjee also happens to be someone who is eternally suffering from chronic constipation, which leads to many quarrels between the father and daughter. Life changes and how for not just Piku, but also for Bhashkor Banerjee with the entry of Rana Chaudhary (Irrfan Khan).
Besides (Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, the film ‘Piku’ also starred Moushumi Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta and Avijit Dutt in all-important roles. Trivia has it that, before Deepika Padukone came on board in the film Piku, director Shoojit Sircar had Parineeti Chopra in mind to play the central character of Piku. The rest, as they say… is history!
