What is common to Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan? Besides the fact that they both are stellar actors, superstars in their own rights and have a legacy of work credited to their names, there is one more thing which is common to them. And, that is, both these superstar actors cannot be imitated and neither can their voice be used without their permission.
After Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, it is now Jackie Shroff aka ‘Jaggu Dada’ aka ‘Bhdu’, who has now filed a suit before Delhi High Court seeking the protection of name, photographs, voice and word Bhidu’. In other words, one cannot use the word ‘Bhidu’ without his consent, nor can anyone imitate his personality traits.

As per a report in LiveLaw, it has been written that the suit, which has been filed by Jackie Shroff, states that the said suit had been filed by the actor against various entities using his name, photographs, voice and word ‘Bhidu’ without his consent. The matter was heard by Justice Sanjeev Narula, who had issued summons to the defendant entities in the suit.
The said matter has been listed tomorrow when the court will consider passing an interim order, as per the aforementioned report. It was Advocate Pravin Anand, who had appeared for Shroff and had submitted that the personality and publicity rights of his client (Jackie Shroff) were being violated by the misuse of his name, image, voice and his personality features.

In addition to that, Advocate Pravin Anand pointed out that, one of the defendants in the said suit was even running a restaurant named ‘Bhidu’, which happens to be a registered trademark of Jackie Shroff. Besides that, the report also mentioned about a few defendants who had appeared in the court on advance notice, were found to be using the actor’s photographs in wallpapers, his voice in ringtones, which, they said, had been discontinued by them.
In the same breath, it was also said that a few defendants were even found using the actor’s photos on posters, mugs, T -shirts which cannot be permitted without the consent of the actor.
