1000 Films For Ilayaraja

The release of Thara Thappattai on January 14th will mark the 1000th film for music director Ilayaraja. The songs in the film have already gained appreciation from the audience. Throughout his career, Raaga Devan is known for his work in films like Nayagan, Thevar Magan, Moodu Pani and literally hundreds of others.

Ilayaraja’s 100th film was Moodu Pani which was directed by Balu Mahendra. Aayiram Nilavae Vaa was his 200th film with another landmark being Udhaya Geetham, his 300th film. Mani Ratnam’s Nayagan and Anjali marked the 400th and 500th film for the composer. Thevar Magan was his 600th film.

Skipping forward 8 years, Hey Ram was Ilayaraja’s 900th film and now, Thara Thappattai will be his 1000th film. Throughout his career, Ilayaraja has gained a massive fan following across the globe. He started his career with the 1975 film Annakkili which was produced by Panchu Arunachalam.
