Zendaya To Produce And Star In A Film On Anita Hemmings
Actor Zendaya is all set to produce the upcoming film 'A White Lie' along with Reese Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine partner Lauren Neustadter. Apart from producing, the Spider-Man : Homecoming actress will also star in the film. She will portray the role of Anita Hemmings, the first African-American woman to graduate from Vassar College.
The movie is an adaptation of Karin Tanabe’s book ‘The Gilded Years’ which narrates the true story of Anita Hemmings, a light-skinned, African-American woman who was the descendant of slaves and passed as white so she could attend Vassar in the 1890s. The movie will also show love story between Anita and a Harvard student. Monica Beletsky, who produced television series ‘Fargo’ and ‘Parenthood’, will pen the script for the flick.
Zendaya was recently see in Sony’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ where she starred opposite Tom Holland. She will be seen next opposite Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron in Fox’s ‘The Greatest Showman’ where she will essay the role of trapeze artist Anne Wheeler. ‘The Greatest Showman’ will premiere on December 20.
