Vondie Curtis-Hall to helm Paul Robeson biopic
Actor-director Vondie Curtis-Hall appeared on silver screen with his latest movie Black Nativity and now it is heard that Vondie is directing a project based on the life of singer Paul Robeson. David Harewood has been signed to play the lead while other actors are still to be finalised.
Richard Akel of Four Stars International will produce the biopic on Robeson along with Brookdale Entertainment Group and Fred Pittman. Pittman remarked about the venture, “In my view, Paul Robeson is one of the greatest Americans in history, and arguably the most accomplished, in view of his many achievements and contributions not only in the United States but also internationally.”
Paul Robeson was an African-American singer and actor, who was involved in Civil Rights Movement. He was also a football player and an active politician. Director Curtis-Hall is mostly associated to Television and is best known for his role as Dr. Dennis Hancock on CBS medical drama Chicago Hope. His other shows include Criminal Minds, Boston Legal and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. The biopic on Paul is in pre-production stage and shooting for the same will start early next year.
