20th Century Fox gives name to Independence Day sequel, releases first look
20th Century Fox has finally given a name to the sequel of Independence Day and with that, the studio has also released the first pictures of the film. The sequel of the 1996 blockbuster film is returning after 20 years. Popularly known as Independence Day 2, the flick is officially named “Independence Day Resurgence”.
The story of the film will revolve around aliens attacking the planet Earth and in action the defence forces trying to protect it. The first pictures released by the studio are directly from the sets of the movie. It showcases a spacecraft called ‘Moon Tug’. Another picture has the director of the flick Roland Emmerich, posing along the aircraft. Roland Emmerich, Dean Devlin, James Vanderbilt, James A.Woods and Nicolas Wright will write the screenplay of the film.
Independence Day Resurgence will feature Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, Judd Hirsch, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Bill Pullman, who essayed the character of President Thomas J. Whitmore in Independence Day will also feature in the sequel. Also, the producer of the original flick, Dean Devlin, is now producing the flick along with Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser. Ute Emmerich will execute production. The film is all set to hit the theatres on June 24, next year.
