6 Sports Biopics We Are Looking Forward To!
Biopics are ruling Bollywood, especially sports biopics!
We have already seen some biopics on sports personalities such as Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Pan Singh Tomar and some more. Seems like our Bollywood filmmakers are really inspired by the heroes from the fields of sports! We don't blame them as their stories cannot be untold.
Here is the list of the movies that we can't wait to watch -
1. Dangal - The film stars Aamir Khan portraying the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat who taught wrestling to his daughters, Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Geeta was India's first female wrestler to win at Commonwealth Games 2010 where she won the Gold medal (55kg) while Babita won the Silver (51kg).
The movie revolves around the emotional journey of the family!
2. Dhoni: The Untold Story - Sushant Singh Rajput plays the role of captain cool of Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This is probably the most awaited biopic of 2016 which is scheduled to release on 2nd September!
3. Azhar- It is a film based on the life of the former cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin who led the Indian Cricket team for most of the 1990's. Emraan Hashmi will be playing the role of Azhar on screen and is being helmed by director Tony D'Souza. Prachi Desai will be playing the role of cricketer's wife and Nargis Fakhri as Sangeeta Bijlani!
4. Sultan - Salman Khan plays the role of Sultan Ali Khan who deals with problems in his personal and professional life. The film is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is scheduled to release this Eid. Anushka Sharma plays as a female wrestler opposite Salman Khan in the movie.
5. Biopic on Murlikant Petkar - Sushant Sing Rajput features in another biopic, on Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar, who won gold at the Commonwealth Games in 1970 and Paralympics in Germany in 1972. He also set a world record in the 50m freestyle swimming and, at the same game, participated in Javelin, Precision Javelin throw and Slalom!
6. Dhyanchand - Karan Johar declared that he is making a biopic on Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand in October 2014. The hockey player was a three-time Olympic gold medal winner and was widely popular as ‘The Wizard’ due to his control on the ball. The cast of the film has not been announced yet!
