Malaika-Arbaaz Story: What Went Wrong!
2016 has become the year of breakups. From Farhan Akhtar ending his 15-year-old marriage with wife Adhuna Akhtar to Om Puri parting ways with wife Nandita after 26 years. And now the grapevine has gone into a tizzy with the news of Malaika Arora Khan and Arbaaz Khan heading for a divorce after 18 years of togetherness. The news came a few months ago and it is still making rounds on the social media, Arbaaz made an attempt to refute the rumours but not to any success.
According to a report by the entertainment portal Spotboye.com, after Malaika met with her lawyer Vandana Shah, all the legal proceedings are being taken care of and apparently the actress has made 3 claims that she will address in the divorce petition.
1. “I want to divorce Arbaaz because our marriage has failed to give me any financial stability.”
2. “My husband and his family want that I start leading a simple and domestic life, which I will not.”
3. “I shall never forbid my son from meeting his father after the divorce, but I should get his custody at any cost whatsoever.”
While the couple has kept quiet about the alleged break up, there is another rumour that Malaika has moved out of their Bandra house with their 14-year-old son, Arhaan. Further, the two families have also refused to comment on the issue.
While Salim Khan dismissed the question saying, "I am a writer, don't ask me about anyone's love affair or break-up reports. I never interfere in the life of my kids. I don't want to talk about it." Malaika's mother was also hesitant to answer the question and said, "They are two grown up adults. It is their business. I don't want to get into it. I don't want to talk to the press.''
Apparently, after Salman Khan's attempt to fix Arbaaz-Malaika's relationship failed, she has gone ahead to file for the divorce with the above-mentioned clauses. Malaika has had problems with Arbaaz's unsuccessful career and the way she was perceived by Arbaaz's family. She developed to hate her husband's identity which was under the shadow of his superstar brother and she was managing their son's finances single-handedly. If rumours are to be believed, she always felt like an outsider in Arbaaz's family and also had issues with his brother Salman Khan, who had a problem with her fashion choices and her friends.
Amrita Arora's comment added fuel to the fire when instead of refuting the claim she said, "They are mature to take their own decisions."
According to a report by The Times of India, the tiff was evident on the sets of Power Couple. The duo barely shot together for three episode and after much persuasion when they started shooting together there was an air of awkwardness around them.
Few months back, the couple asked for privacy when they announced their break up and today, the once-upon-a-time much in love couple, are separated.
