Lekar Hum Deewana Dil - To Watch or Not to Watch
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil is a story about two college friends – Dino and Karishma - who don’t realize that they are in love, while their friends seem to see it as being obvious. Dino (Armaan Jain) is a carefree, irresponsible and an impulsive boy who realizes his feelings for his best friend Karishma (Deeksha Seth) only when she is about to get into an arranged marriage without her will, because of parental pressure. To save Karishma, he elopes with her and eventually marries her. What follows is a long drawn out plot with a very obvious ending!
The Dope-Shope Generation
In the movie, the two college kids seem to lack more than just common sense. First, they set off on a road trip to Goa (on a bike, with a puppy and what seems to be like 3 suitcases) to live their happily ever after. Earning a living or getting a job seems to be the least of their concerns, as they party and booze on till they are almost about to get caught for eloping. While they are being chased by the police and their gharwalas, they run for help to a person who turns out to be a maowadi and takes them to a naxalite camp. The moment Dino goes like ‘what is this Mao?’ (referring to the Maoists) was the moment I literally wanted to bang my head against the wall.
What’s up bro(w)s
There has been A LOT that’s been written about Armaan’s eyebrows all over the net. And I’m here to stand in unity with everyone and affirm that! The most noticeable thing about Armaan’s face were his eyebrows. They distracted my attention from everything else while he spoke his lines! His acting was okay and there maybe latent potential in him which is yet to be tapped.
The Travel Bug!
Despite the sluggish storyline, the way destinations, (especially Goa) were shot would make you want to travel there ASAP. The beaches, the parties, and the greenery – all of that just feeds the wanderlust in you! So after watching this movie, you might just want to turn on Khalifa on your iPod and take a road trip to Goa!
Worth A Watch?
Is Lekar Hum Deewana Dil worth a watch? Well, if you want to reminisce about your college days and puppy love affairs, you could watch this one! But if you fancy watching movies that have a solid story line with impressive performances, then you should stay away from Lekar Hum Deewana Dil. All in all, it’s a one-time watch! Go only if you’re bored, or if you don’t get tickets to Bobby Jasoos!
