    With 2024’s biggest Malayalam blockbuster Manjummel Boys arriving on OTT, the survival thriller continues to make huge waves among cinephiles. Non-Malayali fans, who watched the film when it came out on Disney+ Hotstar on May 5, 2024, took to their social media handles to appreciate the film.  

    Many users called it the ‘best film of the year,’ describing it as the ‘most gripping and intense movie.’ Many users even defended the film after some netizens claimed that the survival thriller was overrated. One user commented, "People saturated the song (Kanmani Anbodu) and made everyone feel like this is overrated, but it's not. This is how you should make a gripping survival thriller with no deviations from the main plot. (sic)" 

    Many applauded Sushin Shyam for creating the finest background score that blended well with the scenes. “#SushinShyam's background score is top-notch. It blends well with the visuals, which is more important while scoring for a survival thriller. (sic)” 

    Many users loved the clean transition scene between younger Subash diving into the lake and his present self falling into the deep Guna Caves. “One of the finest transition scenes ever created in Indian cinema. (sic),” a user commented. 

    Even several months since its release, the Malayalam survival thriller continues to be a fan favorite and has clearly emerged as the movie of the year!

    12th Fail actor Vikrant Massey recently spoke about the film after it came out on OTT. “Like everybody else, I watched Manjummel Boys and it reignited the never-give-up attitude within me,” Vikrant emphasized that Manjummel Boys is a story of friendship, willpower, and persistence. “Its stunning visuals and mind-blowing performances have made it a blockbuster hit,” he said. “It’s a must-watch for everybody, and for me, it’s already my favorite film of the year so far,” the actor said, urging everyone to watch the superhit Malayalam survival thriller. 

    Manjummel Boys, helmed by Jan.E.Man-fame director Chidambaram, is based on a real-life incident that took place in 2006. The story explores the unexpected misadventure of a group of friends when they take a trip to Kodaikanal. How the friends embark on a daring rescue mission to save one of them from the treacherous Guna Caves forms the crux of the story. 

    The film features Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S Poduval, Jean Paul Lal, Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, and Vishnu Reghu, who played key roles. The movie is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
